Natural cycle IVF does not presuppose stimulation of ovulation for an egg cell retrieval. This program presupposes a puncture of a follicle matured in a natural ovular cycle. An egg cell retrieved in the result of a puncture is fertilized in vitro. It is a rare case when 2 or even three egg cells are retrieved without special medicines.
An obvious positive side of such a program is the fact that hormonal medicines are not used for ovarian stimulation. Furthermore, there is no risk of having your ovaries hyperstimulated or achieving a multiple pregnancy.
But the fact that only one egg cell is retrieved makes the program less efficient in comparison with a stimulated cycle IVF program.
