IVF
How often will I need to visit the clinic during the IVF program?
During the examination stage, 1–2 visits are usually enough.
During stimulation, patients come every 2–3 days for ultrasound monitoring.
Then egg retrieval takes place, followed by embryo transfer about 5–6 days later.
In total, there are usually around 9–11 visits per cycle.
Is IVF legal for international patients?
Yes, IVF is legal and available in Georgia for international patients.
Can single women undergo IVF?
Yes, IVF is available for single women.
The procedure and medical support are the same as for married couples.
What languages do the doctors and coordinators speak?
The main languages are Georgian, Russian, and English.
Coordinators also speak more than ten other languages, including Chinese and Hebrew,
which helps us make the process comfortable for patients from all over the world.
What is the difference between a natural and a stimulated cycle?
A natural cycle uses one naturally matured egg — a gentler approach without hormonal stimulation, though with fewer embryos (typically 1–2).
A stimulated cycle allows multiple eggs to mature, providing more embryos for selection.

When is a frozen embryo transfer (FET) recommended?
FET is chosen in cases of ovarian hyperstimulation risk, suboptimal endometrial timing (“implantation window”), additional testing needs, or after PGT. It allows transfer at the most favorable time.
Is ICSI necessary for everyone?
No. ICSI is used when medically indicated — in cases of male infertility, previous failed fertilizations, or specific sperm characteristics. The decision is made by the embryologist.
How many embryos should be transferred?
In most cases, we recommend transferring a single embryo (SET) to minimize the risk of multiple pregnancy.
What is PGT and when is it recommended?
Preimplantation genetic testing (PGT) analyzes the chromosomal set of embryos. It’s recommended for recurrent implantation failures, recurrent miscarriage, advanced maternal age, or known genetic risks.
Do I need to cancel the cycle if the endometrium is thin?
Not always. The treatment plan may be adjusted — dosage, timing, or protocol. If the endometrium doesn’t reach the desired thickness, transfer is postponed to the next cycle.
Surrogacy
Can the surrogate be replaced?
Yes, a replacement is available for medical reasons without limitation.
How long should we plan to stay in Georgia for the surrogacy program?
The duration of your stay depends on the treatment plan and whose reproductive cells are used. If the intended mother’s own eggs are used, she will need to come for about two weeks for ovarian stimulation and egg retrieval, while the intended father stays for 1–3 days to provide sperm. If donor eggs are used, only the intended father needs to come to provide sperm.
How many times do we need to travel to Georgia, and how long is each visit?
Usually, two visits are required: the first to provide the genetic material, and the second at the time of the baby’s birth.
Do both parents need to be present in person to sign contracts with the clinic and the surrogate?
No. All agreements are notarized and can be signed remotely by power of attorney. The clinic fully manages this process.
How is the baby’s birth certificate issued?
The clinic handles the entire process. We submit all required documents to the Georgian House of Justice to obtain the birth certificate.
How long does it take to receive the birth certificate after delivery?
Usually from one to four weeks.
Is surrogacy legal in Georgia for international couples?
Yes. Surrogacy is officially permitted and fully regulated by Georgian law.
Who can participate in the program?
Surrogacy programs in Georgia are open to heterosexual couples who have been in an official or civil marriage for at least one year.
Where are the surrogates from, and what are the requirements?
Our surrogates are from Georgia, Russia, and Kazakhstan. All surrogates must be physically and psychologically healthy, have at least one biological child, and be under 40 years old.
Do surrogates undergo medical and psychological testing?
Yes. Every candidate undergoes a full medical examination according to a strict protocol, including a psychological assessment.
Are surrogates tested for alcohol, nicotine, and drug use?
Yes. These tests are part of the standard screening protocol and may be repeated during the program.
How is the health and lifestyle of the surrogate monitored during pregnancy?
The pregnancy is supervised by EFC doctors. Each surrogate has a personal coordinator who stays in touch 24/7, monitors scheduled check-ups, and assists with any medical or everyday needs.
Where do surrogates live during the program, and who helps them with daily needs?
Most surrogates live with their families. If they come from another country, the clinic provides housing — typically shared apartments with two surrogates per flat, each with a private room. A housekeeper visits once a week to help with cleaning.
Where are pregnancy monitoring and delivery carried out?
Pregnancy is monitored at our clinic, and deliveries take place at Tbilisi’s leading maternity hospitals — Gagua or Gudushauri.
Do surrogates stay in Georgia for the entire program?
Surrogates from Georgia and Kazakhstan reside in the country throughout the program. Surrogates from Russia arrive in Georgia at around the 22nd week of pregnancy and stay until delivery.
What is the age range of surrogates?
Up to 40 years old, with the average age being around 30.
Can two embryos be transferred at the same time?
Yes, provided the surrogate agrees and there are no medical contraindications — such as a previous cesarean section, high risk of multiple pregnancy, or other restrictions. The decision is made by the reproductive specialist.
How are surrogates selected?
Candidates first meet with a coordinator and then undergo a full medical evaluation according to the clinic’s protocol.

Yes. We offer access to our own donor database, and programs with donor oocytes include two embryo transfers.
Is there a guaranteed-result program?
Yes, the “Guarantee” program includes unlimited IVF/ICSI cycles and unlimited transfers until a live birth.
How is payment structured?
Payments are made step-by-step — from contract signing to the 18th week of pregnancy. The compensation for the surrogate is paid directly to her account. Specific amounts and stages depend on the chosen program.
